Since my cable is showing wear, I was thinking about getting a synthetic line...

I have a Masterpull 3/8" x 100' Synthetic Line.
Watch out for Amsteel. Mine melted to the drum and frayed. Amsteel prettty much told me too bad, electric winches run hot ..... go figure. The Masterpull's first 10' is heat resistant and guaranteed against melting.

I used the Blue stuff, On the first pull it shrunk down to a pencil point size and bkoke. tied back together and doubled the line and it broke again. I now use the Blue to pull out the real winch line. I spoke with the people at MasterPull they tried to talk me out of 7/16 diameter rope but I won. I am confidet that 3/8 Masterpull is all you need for a 9000 pound winch.
MasterPull rope is prestretched and heat set. The first 10' is heat resistant. During a pull, the rope dose not narrow down. My 7/16 rope is rated at 40,000 pounds, this gives my a good safety factor.

That's exactly what happened to me Brian. There's no way I'd ever buy another Amsteel Blue Line after the way customer service treated me. I even sent them pictures and they blamed the winch.

I only saw the ORO x stuff on your site, did I miss something? Email me some prices please. I have the wife convinced this is an absolute necessity. I have the broken light and dented grill to prove the risk of wire cable snap back. Thanks
see next post
