Hi guys, Not sure how many of you are XJ owners, but I sure you will all appreciate this..... We recently built this Jeep for a friend of mine. We installed the brand new 8.5" BDS Long-Arm Suspension (w/ Flex Ends, of course), 9500 Series Gas Shocks, 4.56 Gears, and some 35x12.50R15 BFG Mud's (no trimming!), Tom Woods 242 SYE & Driveshaft, Gibson Exhaust and an ARB Snorkel. Installation is not for the faint at heart, but the outcome was remarkable. I drove this home to deliver it (apprx. 40 miles) to my friend and this thing drove sooooo nice! No squeaks, rattles, or shakes. While I would love to say that installation performed by our expert technicians are the reason for the amazing ride quality, I have to admit that it was all BDS... Once again, they have engineered another great product!

The Explorer 8.8 is the way to go! We can set them up for either a TJ or YJ (plus they have disk brakes). We sell those Aerostar 8.8's for people that are building custom rigs and use there own mounts and such. Only drawbacks with 8.8's is you can't use factory wheels (or factory b/s) unless you use spacers and they are not ABS compatible. I think our current inventory is 1 Explorer 8.8 and like 5 Aerostar 8.8's (in case anyone was wondering ) We also have a few of the BRAND NEW OEM Dana 44 Rubicon Front Housings left. $649.95 or $2495.00 w/ ARB Air Locker and your choice of gear ratio...ready to install: www.ok4wd.com/index.php/catalog/product/rock_equipment_dana_44_front_housing_for_jeeps/

I've had nothing but problems with my front stock Dana 30 and am looking to ditch it real fast. Maybe I'm best off getting an empty 44 housing and taking my time building it up .
Do you guys ever get any used equipment you need to get rid of ? If so feel free to post it. We do a lot of our own custom fabrications.

Dana 44 parts aren't incredibly expensive and are readily available pretty much anywhere. I will keep an eye out for you for used parts, if you are ever curious about getting the parts from Spicer, give Jason a call (drivetrain guru).

I might go that route. I pretty much wiped out my entire Dana 30 a couple weeks ago on the trail. Nothings been right since. I need a new ring & pinion and I killed the Powertrax Locker I just bought. An expensive ride to say the least. How come Richmond Gears (Powertrax)Customer Service is impossible to reach ? I can't get a hold of them at all and they haven't returned any of my emails.
Right now I'm running on 2WD only.

Are you calling one of these numbers?... (864) 843-9275 or (864) 843-9231. They normally always work.

VP, I still cringe when I think of the hit you guys took. I was amazed you drove away from that.

That was a crazy day but somehow I love it. I have issues.

I have no idea what happened. I might have messed up the pinion somehow. When I put it in 4WD (hi or low) the locker engages immediately, jerks right and the steering gets really tight & the locker gets loud. If I try to turn it feels like the differential is about to pop.
I'm ok in 2 wheel drive although the ride isn't too pleasant. Something ain't right. When I find a free minute I gotta rip that carrier apart and find out exactly what happened.
