So I decided to get a little dirty today and change the dif oil in the rear. Got everything done except I can't get the new oil in there. I tried a little siphon pump from walmart but that did not work. Anyone have any other suggestions?
Also just to confirm, what weight oil does everyone use. I read conflicting reports online of different oils so I want to make sure I got the right one. Car is a 97 wrangler with a d35 don't think it has the limited slip but don't really know..
Thanks in advance, Andy P.

This is right out of my owners manual : Mopar hypoid gear lube SAE80W-90 or equivalent... For trailer towing, use SAE 75W-140 synthetic gear lube... Of course this is manufacturer recommendations but alot of guys have their own reasons for using different weights... As for putting in the lube, most come in a squeeze bottle or use an equivalent... Hope this helps you........

I use a hand siphon pump with a flexible hose attached. It works really well.
I like Royal Purple Gear Oil 75w-90 weight. No need to add a limited slip oil. It already has the limited slip additive in it.

Just put a short length of vacuum hose on the tip of the squeeze bottle and let gravity do the rest. Vince

On a stock TJ the track bar, tie rod and all that good stuff are in the way. There's no real way to get the bottle higher than the fill plug. I suggest the hand siphon and attach a 1/2" piece of clear tubing to it. It does the trick everytime and takes about 1 minute to fill.

Yea the issue on my stocker was actually the gas tank believe it or not getting in the way. I finally bought a 1/2 inch tube and let gravity run its course as suggested. Thanks for the suggestions, I'm back on the road.
