Does anyone know what is involved in replacing my blown TJ's NP231 T-Case with an NP241 case ? I know that Advance Adapters sells conversion kits, but what's actually involved ?
And is there a particular vehicle that it has to be out of or are all NP241 cases adaptable ? I don't know if it matters but mine is a 4.0L, Automatic.
Thanks, Chip

You might be right. I know the NP241 is in a lot of GM Trucks and they are a different spline count. But I think I can get adapters to be able to use my stock driveshafts Here's the Yoke I'll need, (2) 1310 Spicer Yokes .... I believe. Here's the different cases. The 231 is on the left, 241 on the right

Upgrading to an NP241 is just an idea i'm kicking around. If it's not feasible I'll get a 231 to put back in it. We'll see.
I think I just need the input shaft adapter and it can work . I got some homework to do tonight.

I found a case from Mountain Garage. The Owner Darin sold me a 100% rebuilt NP231 Upgraded Case with a wider Morse chain, wider sprockets and a "V8" HD Planetary. Also has upgraded (dual) seals to keep out water & mud. My total cost was only $ 635.00 and no core charge. If anyone needs a T-Case, this is the guy to talk to. www.MountainGarage.comThank you, Chip

He sells the upgraded cases for less than what most people charge for a stock OEM 231 case and no core charge at all. Most companies ask for a $ 350.00 core charge. It comes with a 1 Year Warranty also.

Finally got the Spicer 5-785X Solid U-Joints. So now I can start rebuilding the driveshafts and pinions this week.
PS: Don't ever buy the greasible U-Joints. I learned my lesson the hard way. They broke like a toy. Just replace the driveshaft ujoints yearly as part of routine maintenance.

I agree with you on the u-joints. You may as well buy the $9 ones and just replace them every year.

I don't care what anyone says. There are no "waterproof or lifetime" u-joints.
Any manufacturer who thinks otherwise. Please send us your product and we'll be more than happy to do a full and honest 1 year product evaluation.
