Hey everyone. Im new to Jeeps, but not to cars or the forum world. I just picked up this 90 Wrangler locally, I got a great deal. Its an auto, with 120,xxx on the clock. On to the pics, then some questions.
I would like to get started with some mild wheeling, nothing crazy as of now. Im just starting out, so anyone that would be willing to go mild wheeling with me and possibly a buddy of mine, lemme know!
Okay well now that the pics have been posted, I have a few questions/statements.
I am into mild offroading, I eventually want to go to wharton state forest with a few of my buddies who have jeeps.
I would like to no have to worry about getting my distributor wet. I have read just to put a bit of di-electric silicone in each of the boots on the wires, and to put a bead of di-electric silicon around the bottom of the cap. But i have read something about ionizing the air inside the cap so I should vent it. Is this true? If so, has anyone done it and have pictures of it?
Next, I just swapped my stock carb with a rebuilt one with about 30k on it. I would like to get rid of it before the cold weather starts. I have heard when swapping carbs, the vacuum system has to be rerouted. Which would be the best/ easiest carb to swap, and why?
I was actually about to sell it last sunday, but had a change of heart because the winter is coming up and i would love to have it in the snow.
The 4wd isnt working right now. I actually went offroading and got stuck for a little over 3 hours until a buddy showed up and determined that the actuator as not getting vacuum. So we used a vac line from something else and hooked it up and pulled right out of the hole. I have pics, but they are cell phone pics. Lemme know if anyone would like to see them. I have been researching ways to fix it, and the simplest/ most reliable seems to be the cable sold on quadtratec. Anyone have it or used it before? Please let me know how you like it.
Thats about it for now. I will be doing a lot of reading and searching. I know how important searching is. If anyone has any comment/suggestions about my jeep, please feel free to let me know. Constructive criticism is welcomed also. Thanks for looking!
