Well i think i found a new trail fix for every one who's alternator stops charging on the trail. I broke my alternator down today only because i didn't want to spend $200 plus for a rebuilt 140 amp alt. With some dumb luck i pulled the alt. out and broke her down to just find a simple fix the brushes where hanging up,,,the brushes are in a housing where sand can get in and hang em up,,,,a little WD40 and some electric cleaner i freed them up,,,low and behold she charging again . I spent about an hr. playing with this thing but i believe on the trail 1/2hr tops. So with that said if you have an alternator not charging (after a day of playing in the pines) take it apart before you buy a new one,,,i would bet the brushes are hanging up like mines was ;D

Another trick is hold the brushes retracted with a paper clip and then assemble the case Vince
