How about a nice balmy Monday afternoon to rotate the tires? I have been noticing a raspy sound associated with vehicle speed. When I lifted the right front wheel, there was about a ½” of play in the unit bearing. I figured the bearing would hold up while I fetched the part from AA. Needless to say the noise was getting much louder on my way home from the store. I was seriously considering having the rig towed home. I am now the proud owner of two brand new bearings...$$$$

I'd say luck was on your side this time. I carry a good used one in my trail box. Is there a heavy duty unit available or is Timken the best?

I got 75,000 miles on the rig and considering the amount of fun wheeling in the mud, new bearings are not a big deal. But if you consider that most people never take their 4x4 off road, a used bearing is a good option. Pine barrens mud is some evil stuff. Last week it was a rear pinion seal, and drive shaft u-joint. The failed u-joint's lubrication was contaminated with water and was just starting to get loose. I am seriously considering switching to marine grease.
I am waiting for a nice day to pull the shafts Jeanne's rig and go over the u-joints and centering ball.

Its a wheel hub bearing assembly. They fit either side. I searched a couple parts stores the cherokee and wrangler come up the same part #. With or without ABS was the only difference I could find.
