On my way home last night I heard a clunking noise from my rear drivers side tire area. It would get worse when I would shift or came to a light and took the load off the driveline. When I would apply the brakes it would not go away. At first I thought it might be a U joint but they are all good.
Last night I jacked the rear up and I can move the tire back and forth from the top to the bottom and from the right to the left.
I'm thinking bearing??
I never changed a rear bearing before. How hard is it? and is that something I can do on my own?
Thanks for your help.

If you have a 20 ton press; not hard... I had Jersey-Jeep and Customs replace one on the Rubi for just over $100. I am surprised that you also don’t have a blown axle seal… Either way, seal and bearing should be replaced as a set. You can save a few bucks if you pull the axle and split the bearing retaining ring. Almost any decent garage will press on the new bearing for cheep. ~$20.00
