I think this global warming is a butch of crap! They say oceans are rising and were losing coast line. This is my theory on that. If you put a 300,000 mega ton ship in the water don't you think the water that it displaces will make the water levels go up. I just read that there building the biggest freighters ever displacing 100s of thousands of gallons of water. There's over 100,000 cruise ships and god knows how many other ships and boats are out there. Then you have the palm islands and the islands there making in Japan. If you make an island were does that water go. If I put 10 people in my pool the water level increases dramatically. So if you ask me take all the stuff that man puts in the oceans out and the levels will return to normal.

That sounds rather narrow minded Tom.What about everybody's carbon footprint, the decrease of ozone in the atmosphere, the decrease of the polar ice cap,the increase in CO emissions and the frogs are becoming extinct. Don't you think that we all have social responsibility to be the caretakers of our environment?Maybe this is just me ranting but this is a topic that needs to be addressed. It took how many millions of years for the organic material to decompose and become oil.Oil consumption has increased at an alarming rate since the industrial revolution. So in the past 100 years society has depleted all the easily accessible oil-We could be looking at a Mad Max world in the near future. After all science fiction becomes reality. You calling me narrow minded! ;D If you take all the stuff we put in the seas out the ice cap would be bigger. As for pollutants I don't even through cigarette butts on the ground. I don't use hair spray. I recycle every thing I can. My jeep gets 11 miles to the gallon and I tried to use hydrogen but it rots the cylinder walls. I want to use bio diesel but I can't afford the motor. I use turkey crap to kill weeds. My heater and water heater are 98% efficient. I use GREEN materials in my projects when ever I can. I was hoping to get a rise out of people with this post.

Global warming is a crock imo.
I'm yet to see any evidence that supports it's existence, and by evidence I don't mean any of the garbage that comes out of Al Gore's mouth.
Take a look at the history books and you'll see a bunch of nut-jobs in the 70's raising hell about how were causing "Global Cooling" and how were going to be dead in 20 years from a new ice-age. There are actually some of the same nut-jobs jumping on the "Global Warming" frenzy.
Companies exploiting the fears of billions of people with their "green" products is understandable. The need for people in general to live in fear of a peril that has little to no base in scientific fact is beyond me.

I do think that global warming is an issue. The United States' carbon footprint is so huge that if everyone were to live like us we would need 4 Earths to sustain it.
However I also know that the Earth has had hundreds of climate change periods where the climate warmed up or cooled down. This is undisputed. So I think this warming up period is also partly natural.
Another thing to consider is think about the pollution levels of the industrial age. It has also been well documented that in cities like London even during the day it was dim in the city because of the haze of pollution. The world did not end because of this period.
So to sum, I think the issue exists but is not as big as people think. I think that scaring people into thinking its a huge issue is the fastest way to make progress in the green technology department but not necessarily the best. But I do feel that more money poured into technology research is good no matter where it comes from really

Vince How is global warming not a crock? You state that the evidence is all around us yet fail to show me any evidence. And if you are so concerned about it why aren't you doing more to stop it ie: buying an electric vehicle, riding a bike, walking...? Sounds like you may be a member of the "all for me" generation as well.

I'm so glad I started this post! It started some good clean conversation and a little debate. I seem to remember wood stock a bunch of stoned sex crazed hallucinating people that trashed Yasgurs farm. As for the slogans. There more about the war in Vietnam and equal rights here at home.

So what do we do now?Put the blinders on and throw caution and conservatism to the wind. This is really getting to be fun. Vince P.S. Looks like only five of us have any thoughts on this subject.
