Tom Do you know what year Jeep the frame was out of? I have tried washing out the mud in my frame; it not easy. I know that I can't get to all the mud. I haven't detected any rust or rot, but man do I worry about it.. I noticed in the center of the frame that it has two open slots.. WTF over?

The slots in the top of the frame were cut in it to get the bolts out of the trans skid because the internal nuts broke loose from the frame. I'm going to drill out the old bolt holes from the auto trans skid that I don't use anymore!!

Wow! Thats a TJ frame? Thats horrible, if it was a YJ, it would make sense! I just got my front frame section welded back in last weekend from Auto Rust Technicians, cant even tell it was ever fixed! They make all kind of frame repair sections for jeeps. i dont think they could fix that one though! Looks like they parked it in the in the bay for a month!

This is why I will never take mine on the beach.......
Every Monday after a ride, I'm under the Jeep with one of the power washers at work, I put the pressure nozzle into every hole I can reach, and I blast every place where two plates meet, such as crossmembers, fenders, frame parts, etc. I also liberally spray red grease (they make that in spray cans) everywhere where there's joints or rub marks. I spend alot more time on the chassis then on the exterior.

Even the rear spring buckets were rotted away. The customer brought it in for a rattling noise! People laughed at me for painting my frame!

I washed mine out today! My neighbors must think I'm a nut case. I was on the creeper with a bottle of Awesome and a bucket of car wash cleaning the underside. I pushed the hose down inside the frame holes and in any place it would fit! You'd be surprised the mud you find when rolling around on the creeper!

That is so true. I just powerwashed the underneath the other day and actually crawled around on the ground AGAIN today and re-powerwashed it and more mud came out! It might be time to start waxing the undercarriage. LOL!

First you don't need lockers! You'd be surprised how much fun you'll have just the way the XJ is. Yes bigger tires and lockers are nice but not necessary. I would worry more about skid plates first!!
