When i shift from full time 4wd to 2 wd it gets caught up on 4hi along the way until i drive it out. After i have made the shift to 2wd all the lights go out suggesting i am in 2wd again, but then the 4hi light comes on and its def in 4wd. But if i drive about 100 ft it goes out and i am in 2wd. Is this something that needs to be tightened or maybe a sensor?
First off the NP242 has always had its problems. I know, I have gone through 4 of them over the years. Now I run 231. But first off, Go under the jeep and lube all the linkage and make sure it is free moving. Even after all that, it is normally inside the Tcase that holds the problems. You just have to shift then reverse about 5 feet the drive and it """Should""" shift. Good luck and let us know how it works out for you.
PS, I had them in my old XJ's and I have it in my ZJ right now. I am thinking of switching it out to the 231.

sunwolf: Need help in rewiring 1990 xj steering column replacement,..........I'm not familiar with the wiring plugs and don't know where they all go! It was given to me after the wires were pulled for me to find out,.........any hekp is appreciated!
