My general rule is to work out of my Jeep, even at home. As I find tools I need for the trail, I put them in my Jeep. For example, I need a long 12 mm wrench to tighten my alternator belt. If I left the wrench in the garage, I may have been stranded if my belt broke on the trail.

I carry some cheep tools (not all cheep) but just enough to get me out of trouble. Loosing a cheep HF wrench is better then a good Craftsman or Snapon buried in the mud. I also carry plenty of electrical stuff.
