Wouldnt be the alternator.. Radiator.
Find the location first. Radiator is easy to change. I wouldnt touch anything else but since you have the antifreeze out flush the system and add new.
If the Jeep is running fine, not to hot or cold no need to mess with the thermostat. If the belts look good dont need to replace those either.
A radiator at pepboys is 130.00, just get the oem replacement. Unless you do a lot of crawling I wouldnt spend the money on a good one.

You're right it is the radiator, it was a typo.

What about the ebay aluminum radiator, 130 to 170 isn't a big difference if it lasts longer and prevents this from happening ever again.
The jeep has been running at 210 (I think, needle straight up) even with this leak so everything else should be good.

First off look for the obvious. Did you check all the hoses & Clamps, is the cap tight, etc ?
Kurt's right, if your temperatures are good then don't even think about playing with any of the controls. Your just gonna open up another can of worms.
If it's a small leak chances are that it's an easy quick fix. It's when your dumping antifreeze you have a problem.

The 4.0 must run at 210 for optimum performance. Everything is set for that temperature. The Jeep gauge is crappy and Chip is right around straight up is perfect.

Hot is better for engine economy, power, and efficiency. It's actually slightly worse for (some) emissions.
210 is good. 230 and above is bad. 180 and below is bad.

I'm in total agreement, and just an FYI: dont listen to ANYONE who tells you to put a lower temp thermostat in the truck for "more power"... I tried a 160 in mine, and the fuel economy went all to hell ( seriously, I keep tabs on these things ). The 4.0 is an older design motor, and the head was designed with higher running temps in mind. Just food for thought... Rich
