Watch this and remember the rules of the club! We have ZERO tolerance for trail blazing! This is what's going to end the use of our public lands! www.njn.net/news/environment/

yeah, it only takes a few idiots to ruin it for everyone else. It's bad enough that there aren't a lot of places to go riding but the few that are out there people have to take advantage and trash them. And what stinks is that alot of them are kids that aren't old enough to drink. They go hide in the woods thinking they'll never be caught. Looks like we're gonna have to move closer to Rausch Creek! hahaha!

If anyone see's anything illegal going on out there PLEASE get plate numbers!! I will get them in the hands of the people that matter. Call me a snitch I don't care! I enjoy riding the trails and I refuse to let a small percentage ruin it for all of us.

Thats definitely 1/4 mile where they shot that footage, that whole area is a disaster, i wouldnt be upset if they put a fence around that whole area! Thats new jersey for ya, you give people an inch, and they take a foot! The pines are the last frontier for anywhere to wheel in this state, I dont understand people who feel like its ok to abuse it like that, and think its always going to be there no matter what! Its only a matter of time until scumbags like that get the pines closed off to the rest of us!

Everyone that rides the trails in Wharton and all other state forests should keep the Central Dispatch # in their cell phones..and call it when they see someone doing something illegal.......tearing up fields.....driving through cellar holes....trying to pull down trees..dumping trash....as well as acts of eco terrorism......piano wire accross trails......planks w/ nails in puddles....jagged cut I beams etc..... Why can some people not get it through their heads....NOT to post locations....and to brag about illegal actions on open forums.......and youtube.......Its just giving the tree huggers and the media amunition to get the state forests closed down! Whenever we ride the trails....we must always take trash bags along,,pick up the trash thrown in the pines by these "people"...... Stop by the Atsion or Batsto office and let them know when you are out there cleaning up trash..... The 9th annual Wharton/Pine Barrens clean up is Sunday Oct 24,2010......9am.....Atsion Ranger Station....Like last year..there will be a toy drive for needy children in the area..........If NJN can do a report on the dammage of a FIEW.....why can't they do a report on the GOOD that is done on a regular basis by SO MANY who REALLY care about Wharton and The Pine Barrens? ? Ok...Time for me to get off the soap box!!.....After a post this long..I feel like our friend.........Ray...."The Rant Master" .................................................................................

This is the letter I sent to NJN
Dear NJN, I recently viewed your report on how off-road vehicles are destroying the pines! I'm sending this to let you know that it is a small percentage of people that are out their destroying things. Most are responsible off-roaders that care about the environment and the pines in particular. The small pond you referred to was nothing more than a puddle if it was a pond there is no way an off-road vehicle could dry it out like that! Let me ask you a question if it was a pond and it was destroyed wouldn't there be some kind of dead water animals in or around it? I also didn't see anything about the environmentalist putting boards with nails or steel I beams with giant teeth cut in them in these so called ponds. What about them stringing wire a cross the trails. Not only is this dangerous but it's illegal and littering! I'm not saying there isn't people out there tearing stuff up but there are 2 sides to every story! On Oct. 23rd 9am at the Atsion ranger station there is the 9th annual Pine Barrens Cleanup. This is when a couple hundred off-road enthusiasts get together and fill numerous dumpsters with the trash we go in the woods and bring out! If you want to report on something come out and report the good that the off-road community is doing! And how we are proactive in keeping the people that are destroying things out and how we are educating people to not destroy this beautiful land.

Has the any of the local media ever aired any coverage or story about the pine barrens cleanup? Some positive stories might give the rest of the general public and the tree huggers a different view of people who wheel in the pines.... Unfortunately, the media tends to accentuate only the negative side of things! i think the environmentalists should blame the early settlers of the pines for cutting those roads through there in the first place! Besides, if the state of n.j. hadnt stepped in and turned the Wharton tract in to a state owned forest, it would be a huge cookie cutter Mc.Mansion farm like the rest of the open space in new jersey is quickly turning into! If you couldnt tell, this is a subject that gets me fired up!

I guess we'll have to wait and see if NJN wants to air the good things that happen in our state.

I wouldn't call myself a tree hugger but I've been known to shake their hand and pat them on the back ;D

If you couldnt tell, this is a subject that gets me fired up! The only media coverage.....as far as I know....was at the 5th Annual 4x4 Clean Up in 2005......That year was the 50th anniversary of Wharton State Forest.....The Burlington County Times sent a reporter down...There was a small picture of Mike T.(the organizer) picking up a old tire with a small caption under the pix.........." Mike T of Philadelphia rolls an old tire yesterday to a clean up pile in Wharton State Forest in Shamong. He was part of a contingent that cleaned up a portion of the state park near route 206 yesterday to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the park." It is time for EVERYONE that is concerned about Wharton and other state forests that are being destroyed by a FIEW.......and giving us ALL a bad name because of the type of vehicle vehicle we choose to drive to contact the media......NJN........Burlington County Times...etc........possable some of the Philadelphia news channels ...and try out best to get some major media coverage of this years 4x4 Pine Barrens Clean Up..... Tom.......I will forward you the info. I was emailed from Mike T. about this years clean up for you to forwad to all of our members!

The way i see it is we need to start posting the damage the greenies do by parking the their cars on plant life where ever they please,,,,all the trash they leave at the kayak sites,,,post the dangerous crap they do to the motor-cross guys,,,or better yet what about the motor-cross guy that got clotheslined last year,,,,,Ya know its ok for the greenies to blaze trails when and where they want but its not ok for us to go places that have been wheeled for the 25 plus years ive been going to the pines,,,,So with every thing everyone has posted so far it F-EN time we stand up to the A-HOLES and start posting all the crap they do instead of just talking about doing it!!!!!!
